A Married Couple Becomes Uneasy About Their Hazardous And Irresponsible Drinking And Deliberates Whether They Display Any Alcohol Addiction Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for four years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have a family and so they purposely established an incredibly vibrant social life.

The central issue, it needs to be pointed out, is that virtually everything they do with their family and friends includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the parties with friends, sporting events, dinner engagements, happy hours, and family get-togethers they frequent are related to drinking.

If they were sporadic drinkers this wouldn't be a big issue. Since they drink quite heavily, nevertheless, they are starting to become aware of some clear-cut alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just four weeks ago Lenny was arrested for his first DUI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Lenny's last two performance evaluations at the office have been less than acceptable and he has started to forget what he does or says when he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to get nervous about his drinking circumstances.

Similar to Lenny's circumstances, Angie has been feeling dejected about life and to come to grips with these feelings, she has been drinking more than any time in the past ten months. In addition, Angie has been experiencing quite a few throbbing migraine headaches and going through dreadful hangovers after drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling much less energetic when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least every other day, and she has been receiving some damaging criticism from her relatives, family members, friends, and coworkers about her excessive and hazardous drinking.

One Tuesday evening while watching TV, Angie and Lenny flipped through the channels and found a remarkable documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television special was a real jolt to Lenny and Angie because many of the alcohol facts that were gone over gave them the impression that they were directly linked to some of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the TV program still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are dependent on alcohol or conceivably becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby alcohol rehabilitation facility to find out more about the severity of their drinking issues.

Strangely enough, even though their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was apparent that Lenny and Angie were at least focusing on their drinking issues, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in discovering how they could substantially decrease or eliminate the drinking-related problems that had begun to intensify.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation center located just North of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking issues that had emerged in their lives, they actually had the best night's sleep they could bring to mind in the last five weeks.
