I was in a state of sheer panic. It's not a surprise to be in a panic before the day of the wedding. After all, it was the most significant day of my daughter's life, & one of the most proud days of mine.
I just wanted to have everything right. I needed to be certain that everything was arranged flawlessly. Of course, I knew I was being irrational. It is almost expected to be irrational before such a gala occasion. Nonetheless, I couldn't help myself. My husband said to me to calm down, but it did no good. & then the bad news struck.
It seems that the florist had fouled up the floral arrangement. It isn't like we hadn't given him specific instructions. Just like with assembling the wholesale wedding favors, we gave step by step instructions. But when he screwed up at the last minute, it was more than I could take.
It wasn't like the flower arrangements for the wedding day were slightly off. They were not right at all. If the arrangements for weddings had been, say, a lighter shade of purple instead of the dark purple that I had elected, it would have been alright. As it was, they were wholly different. I assume that combined them with some other floral arrangements for weddings ordered by some other wedding day party. They were probably having the exact same nervous breakdown that I was having right now. As opposed to the dark violet floral bridal bouquet that we had preferred, we are presented with a succession of Calla lily arrangements. I think that calla lilies make beautiful floral arrangements for weddings, but they didn't go along with any-thing. They clashed terribly. All the guests were polite about it, but I can not believe that no-one noticed!
