After talking to his counselor about how his drinking was ruining his work, pocketbook, relationship with his family, and his health, Lonnie comprehended the fact that he was burning the candle at both ends with his extreme work hours and his abusive and excessive drinking. Once he comprehended that he was getting himself into a rut, after detoxification and with the assistance of his psychiatrist, and after five months in counseling, he was at last able to quit drinking and stop working overtime.
